Multiplication Tables is the foundation for passing Maths

When I was young my father asked me multiplication tables all the time. Even on holidays he will ask me 2x3 or 4x5 and I took great pride knowing the answers. Up to today my father will test children on multiplication tables.

All of this made me realize that of all the students I’ve helped the last 25 years, those that knew their multiplication tables passed their Maths. I continue to believe that knowing multiplication tables are the foundation for passing Maths.

Saying all of the above, not knowing multiplication tables might be the root cause why students fail Maths. I will test my hypothesis going forward. There are other causes which are not in my control, therefore I will only focus on the multiplication tables.

I can’t teach multiplication tables to children, but I’m thinking of ways to assist parents to help their children.

May I ask all parents to please give me your techniques you used (or are using) to teach multiplication tables to your children. I will use your techniques to assist other parents, and so we all can grow together.
